Most Common Plumbing Problems and how to Fix them…..

Toilet Repair 21

There are many different plumbing problems that can spring up in the average home. Some plumbing problems are more common that others. Some of the most common plumbing problems are also quite easy to fix. Doing the repairs for these common plumbing problems yourself can save you hundreds of dollars.

  • Low Water Pressure
If your sink’s flow is weak on both the hot and cold sides, the aerator is likely the culprit. To fix this, unscrew the aerator at the tip of the faucet, clear out any calcium deposits or debris, and reinstall it.

    Slow Draining Sink
This is usually caused by hair and gunk trapped in the pop-up stopper. You can clear it using a Zip-it tool or by unscrewing the nut under the sink to remove and clean the stopper assembly.

    Slow Draining Tub
Hair clogs are the most frequent cause of tub backups. Use needle-nose pliers or a Zip-it tool to pull out debris. You may need to remove the tub stopper first to reach the clog.

    Running Toilet
A toilet that won’t stop running is usually a sign of a faulty internal part. You will need to diagnose whether the fill valveflapper, or flush valve is the issue and then repair or replace the specific component.

    Jammed Garbage Disposal
If your disposal motor is stuck, you can manually free it using a 1/4 inch Allen wrench. Insert the wrench into the opening at the very bottom of the unit and turn it in both directions until the jam clears.
